11 Things to do on Islay

Laurie Goodlad is a writer, historian, adventurer, and champion of island communities living on the Shetland Islands – Britain’s most northerly point. She is passionate about her home and the future of Scotland’s rural island communities.

In October she visited Islay with her young family, writing about their experiences. Here they discovered this was not some remote wilderness but an island of proud Ileachs, fantastic food and drink, stunning beaches and villages, an abundance of wildlife, memorable restaurants, ancient history, beautiful views and of course plenty of whisky!

Laurie started her business and blog in 2018, offering tours to visitors in Shetland. She is an accredited green badge tour guide with the Scottish Tour Guide Association and still offers limited tours every year – to patrons of her Patreon site and company contracts.
