About Ballivicar Farm Self-catering Cottages:
Ballivicar is a small family farm running fine North Country Cheviot sheep, free range chickens, Highland ponies and Clydesdale horses.
We are close to Port Ellen ferry terminal, and the Islay Airport and the island’s renowned golf course (Machrie) and three of the island’s world famous distilleries (Laphroaig, Lagavulin and Ardbeg) – with two other distilleries nearby in the pipeline.
Our farm is something of a haven for wildlife, from red, roe and fallow deer to hen harriers, barn owls, peregrines, many buzzards and all manner of other smaller birds and mammals.
As a farm it has a long history featuring by name in the earliest surviving Gaelic charter. The main house and part of the steading in which the cottages are located is 18th century and earlier.
