About Callumkill Farmhouse Self Catering:

Welcome to Callumkill, an estate situated at the South Eastern corner of the Isle of Islay, the southern-most isle of the Inner Hebrides.

Callumkill Farmhouse is more than 200 years old. It is located high on a ridge of hills, overlooking sheep grazing in the fields, the pagodas of both Ardbeg and Lagavulin distilleries, and the Atlantic Ocean. On a clear day the skyline of Ireland appears on the western horizon and to the east the island of Arran as well as the Mull of Kintyre are visible.

Only a few hundred meters from the farmhouse, you can find Ardbeg Cottage.
This cosy self-catering cottage, too, offers its visitors great views and plenty of privacy.

The setting of both houses is tranquil and remote, yet the village of Port Ellen is only a few miles away. There you’ll find restaurants, convenient stores and some small shops which provide residents and tourists with coffees, teas, good food, gifts and everything to feel ‘home from home’. In addition to that three Islay distilleries Ardbeg, Lagavulin and Laphroaig, famous for their full flavoured peaty whiskies, are within walking distance from the farm road.

We take pride in the fact that it is the lochs of Callumkill which supply Lagavulin and Ardbeg distilleries with the water that makes those distinctive drams.

In the hills of our estate we farm cattle and sheep, offer stalking trips (for red and fallow deer) and shooting excursions for wild pheasants, snipes and woodcocks.

Islay has much to offer – 8 distilleries of the finest single malt whiskies, excellent golf courses, wonderful beaches and stunning historic places, like the ancient Seat of the Lords of the Isles.
