About Islay Studios:
Islay Studios is a photographic and art gallery and coffee shop situated in Islay Square, Bridgend.
Visitors are welcome to come and browse and look through the photographs, prints and carefully-sourced gifts, crafts and cards for sale. Fresh coffee, teas and cakes are served every day and there is seating both inside and out.
The studio is run by photographer Mark Unsworth, and his wife Helga, and includes many of Mark’s images of Islay and Jura – and beyond – that he has taken since first opening up a photographic studio on the island over 20 years ago.
He has photographed all the distilleries many times over the years and still undertakes commercial photography assignments, but visitors will still find him in the gallery most days, willing to share his expertise and knowledge of the island.
The gallery is also a picture framing business, and prints from contemporary Scottish artists such as JoLoMo and the late Pam Carter can be found on the walls and are available for sale, alongside many of Mark’s photographs, his recently published coffee-table book of pictures from Islay and Jura as well as cards and gifts.
Islay Square is home to a number of other businesses, including those selling gin, whisky and marmalade and the surrounding estate and woodlands are a fantastic place for a walk for young and old and both two and four-legged friends.
