About Museum of Islay Life:

10,000 years of Islay history on display! Visit Islay’s delightful museum, situated in the former Free Church in Port Charlotte.

Founded in 1977, the museum has built up an extensive collection of objects, books and photographs reflecting the variety of life on Islay. Come and see the displays, from Mesolithic flint tools to an illicit still, Victorian toys to sporting trophies, old crofting tools to household objects, shipwrecks to dairy equipment.

There’s lots to see for all the family, and quizzes for children. The library is available for research. The shop offers a range of books and attractive gifts.

Wheelchair access to all areas except the library.

The Museum is open Monday to Friday from 10.30 – 4.30pm throughout the summer season.
