About Spirited Soaps:
Spirited Soaps was born from a desire to create a soap using natural ingredients along with the islands natural produce.
It was the brainchild of local woman Ailsa Hayes. As an applied chemist, Ailsa knew that transparent soap is better for sensitive skin, and to make this she needed alcohol. Being on the ‘whisky isle’, this sparked the idea of creating soaps using spirits from different island distilleries. And so Spirited Soaps was born…
Spirited Soaps is now run by Gemma MacLean, who still makes the soaps by hand to Ailsa’s original recipes.
The shop sells soaps, creams and lotions, which are always beautifully wrapped. There’s also an online shop if you can’t wait to visit and get your hands on them in person. The shop, just below the Co-op in Bowmore, is open Monday to Friday 10am – 4pm, Saturday 10am – 2pm.
